Building participatory research programmes does not exclude any of the four levels/types of participation. It implies :
- the development of structured and formalised collaborations between academic research and civil society
- to be supported by shared and clearly established methodologies, by appropriate tools and by a framework agreement guaranteeing the integrity of the research and the prerogatives of both parties
At the University of Strasbourg, this policy is supported by:
- an annual call for citizen and participatory science projects with a budget of €100k supported by the Mission d'Investissement d'Avenir (MIA)
- support in setting up projects and methodology
- monitoring of programmes
- the development of participatory mechanisms around major societal and scientific issues, involving the scientific, economic and artistic communities and civil society (e.g. Forum of Religions)
